Kent Coast Path

One of the first parts of the England Coast Path to be officially opened in 2016, the Kent Coast Path spans 67 miles between Camber and Ramsgate. Several paved stages can be challenging to untried feet, but the area is full of rewards, packed with history and places of interest.

The two major features on this section of the England Coast Path are the remote flatlands and the iconic White Cliffs, offering a variety of terrain, from paved paths to wild expanses and rugged climbs. This stretch of coastline has endured its fair share of warfare and invasions over the centuries, the evidence of which can be explored in the form of various Roman forts and villas, castles from several historical periods and the iconic Battle of Britain Memorial, to name just a few.

Although there are plenty of hard surfaces to cross, the Kent Coast Path is an integral bridge in the England Coast Path, with an excellent historical focus.

“Everything ran smoothly even when one hotel cancelled we were kept well informed and the Contours staff were very friendly and helpful (Chloe and Richard). The part from Folkestone to Dover was the most interesting with a visit to the Battle of Britain Memorial on the route.”
Mrs Hayes, UK
“Contrasting views from the sparse, dry landscape around Dungeness to the lush green fields over the white cliffs of Dover. Lucky with the weather. Friendly people wherever we went. Trails were surprisingly quiet, apart from around camp sites and villages.”
