About the trail

The North Wales Coast Path forms the first stage of the Wales Coast Path, the longest continual coastal path around an entire country. From the border of Wales at Chester to Bangor at the start of the Menai Strait, the trail visits seaside towns, sandy beaches with world-famous dunes, and coastal landscapes where wildlife thrives.

The trail is an approachable one, with an optional inland alternative out of Conwy that clambers to the highest point on the Wales Coast Path, passing Fairy Glen and the Meini Hirion Bronze Age stone circle on the way, before converging with the low-level route at Llanfairfechan.

Looking to complete the full Wales Coast Path? Detour at Bangor to complete the Anglesey Coast Path or continue along the mainland coast on the Llyn Coast Path.

We offer multiple holiday options along this trail. If you wish to experience the entire trail, simply select the first option from the list below.

North Wales Coast Path

The first stage of the full Wales Coast Path, the North Wales Coast Path is an approachable walk that winds from Chester to Bangor through a plethora of seaside towns and over golden beaches.

This holiday option explores the trail across 78 miles of fantastic coastal scenery, including world-famous sand dunes, impressive clifftops and sheltered coves, with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife and historic landmarks along the way.

By default, this holiday follows the North Wales Coast Path in its entirety, including the dense industrial area at the start of the trail. We include this less-beautiful stage mostly for the completionists striving to walk the full Wales Coast Path; if you’d like to omit this section from your holiday and jump straight to the stunning coastline, please get in touch and we can provide tailored options.
