Here's
what a few of our clients said about our walking holidays in 2009
Coast to Coast
Thanks for organising such a brilliant holiday for us - we enjoyed every minute of it!
Ms Clayton, UK
Cotswold Round
Everything that you provided was excellent. All the arrangements, maps, directions, accommodations were perfect. No surprises.
Mr Ramsland, USA
Hadrian’s Wall Path
The accommodation, scenery and everyone involved with our walk exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the week and would recommend it to anyone wanting to combine the benefits of nature with historical discovery. Most of the hosts/hostesses went out of their way to provide exceptional service and the level of hospitality was very high.
Mr Mowle, Australia
Coast to Coast
A great holiday. Good walking, beautiful countryside, good accommodation, well organised, good camaraderie with other walkers and fantastic weather.
Mr James, UK
Offa’s Dyke Path
A good variety of B&B’s, especially those with baths and a good welcome. We had a great time, thank you very much, and pleased to accomplish this wonderful walk in one go at such a ripe age.
Mr Merriman, UK
Cotswold Way
There are so many highlights - open hills with long views, steep wooded valleys, honey-coloured stone-built villages, pubs and friendly local people. The character of the Way changes as you progress along it, with more frequent ups and downs to the North, and wider spaced valleys to the South.
Ms Newsom, UK
Hadrian’s Wall Path
Truly excellent walk.
Mr Smith, UK
Cleveland Way
The variety of the walk made it particularly enjoyable - moors for the first section, coast for the second
Mrs Pike, UK
Dales Way
Absolutely wonderful holiday. I would definitely book another holiday with you and the people you do business with are clearly proud to be associated with such a good company.
Miss Elliot, UK
Offa’s Dyke Path
It was our first time with Contours and we are very content with everything.
Ms Rutten, The Netherlands
South Downs Way
Magical sweeping countryside plus the bonus of the weather.
Mr Brumwell, France
Cleveland Way
Thank you for a very enjoyable holiday, good digs and a reliable baggage service. Third time I have used your services.
Mr Carr, UK
Coast to Coast
In 2006, we took a holiday with you walking part of the Southwest Coast Path from Westward Ho! to Padstow. I didn't think anything could top that trip but the Coast to Coast Path certainly did. We loved every day. We especially enjoyed the diversity of the different regions, seeing all that geology, and meeting absolutely wonderful people, both on the path and in the guest houses. While all of the accommodations were lovely, we were very impressed by Elstavale and Josephine's scones and clotted cream, Cambridge House where Les could not have made us feel any more at home, and by Knott's View where we slept in a home built during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Amazing! Also, the chocolates at Barn House and the bath tub at Rounton House were pure bliss. Thank you.
Mrs Hill, Canada
West Highland Way
Even though we got the typical Scottish weather, the views were fantastic, the walk exhilarating and we returned feeling great. We would highly recommend this walk to others, and Contours made it stress free.
Mrs Flynn, UK
Cotswold Highlights
This was our second walking holiday with Contours and it won't be the last. Thanks.
Mr Dewulf, Belgium
Peddar’s Way and Norfolk Coast Path
We enjoyed both the Peddars Way & Coastal Path for different reasons. Peddars Way nice countryside, saw much farming in progress and Coastal Path nice sea air and bird life.
Mr Folliard, UK
Offa’s Dyke Path
Contours, you guys were very easy to deal with: simple, straight forward instructions, practical information and format of packet, you sent OS Maps. You use very good accommodation, we will certainly be back for other walking holidays with you, and we’ll tell our walking friends about you. THANKS!
Mrs Fischer, USA
Coast to Coast
I would absolutely recommend this holiday. Your book and maps were invaluable as they told us what we needed to know before we left home. We knew that the route wasn't a national trail so we packed a compass and had no problems - well, very few problems with route finding. Other people we met - not with Contours - didn't seem as well prepared for the route-finding or the rigors of the path.
Mrs Hill, Canada
Hadrian’s Wall Path
The scenery between Humshaugh and Twice Brewed was rugged, varied and beautiful (the National Park). For historical interest Vindolanda was without doubt well worth half a days visit. We were pleased we had booked an extra night at Twice Brewed to explore the site and museum.
Mr Mowle, Australia
Cumbria Way Highlights
Three days walking with each day having a different 'feel' to it - excellent variety. B&B’s all very friendly and welcoming.
Mrs Thorne, UK
West Highland Way
The WHW terrain and scenery had a lot of variety which I liked. I also liked meeting other people doing the same route during the time I was doing it.
Mr Anderson, USA
South Downs Way
It was all quite beautiful & varied which made it a joy to walk.
Ms Andrews, Canada
Cumbria Way
It was all wonderful, despite the weather: best bits hard to choose - Coniston to Langdale, also Langdale to Keswick, especially the Stake Pass.
Mr Hemsley, UK
Glyndwyr’s Way
Everyone was very welcoming and we enjoyed our trip very much.
Ms Meyer, UK
Coast to Coast
This was my third walk with Contours. As before, no unpleasant surprises. I didn't have to worry about the accommodation or luggage transfer. This is not a small matter for a man walking alone abroad. You can be trusted.
Mr Arason, Iceland
St Cuthbert’s Way
I greatly enjoyed this walking experience overall – the variations of the landscape and the friendliness of the people I encountered at the B&B’s and in the countryside. I was very fortunate to have beautiful weather for most of the walk!
Ms Marin, USA
Cotswold Way
There were lots of bits that I really enjoyed: the "edge" paths with the spectacular views from the Cotswold Escarpment and some of the forest walks were superb! Passed through some lovely Cotswold villages too. Great deal of variation on the walk, which was great! The paths were very good and the walk was exceptionally well waymarked.
Dr van Zyl, UK
Cumbria Way
Have already recommended it many times within first week back!
Mr Palgrave, UK

We were fortunate to walk when the weather was glorious. This was our 9th walk with Contours and was most enjoyable. The B&B's at Budleigh Salterton was the nicest we have ever been in. Thank you for the arrangements.
Mr Fransen, UK

Fantastic scenery one of the most unspoilt areas in the country.
Mr Rafferty, UK

Your information about public transport, the river crossings and the B&B's is excellent. Providing the OL maps is a very good service.
Mr Schoeter, Germany
Cotswold Round
Bourton-on-Water is a beautiful village. We enjoyed Winchcombe where we stayed for a day and had the time to enjoy the area and the castle. We did enjoy the beauty of the countryside and the small pubs along the way.
Ms Sinclair, Canada
Pembrokeshire Coastal Path
It was a very nice tour, the scenery and accommodation were fantastic and we met a number of very charming people.
Mr Kuzel, Germany
Northumberland Coastal Path
Lucky with the tides so we really enjoyed walking along the vast beaches: brilliant sunshine, fascinating places en route - an excellent walk! Balance of length of walks good so had time to explore each location & good recommendations made for evening meals.
Dr Follows, UK
West Highland Way
We were fortunate with the weather which was fine except for one day. The area is outstanding. The arrangements made by Contours were excellent and the holiday was problem free.
Mr Moorhouse, UK
South West Coast Path
Excellent. This was our first walking holiday, although we are both over 60 we would probably tackle something similar again - possibly with shorter days so we could investigate the places we went through more thoroughly. The luggage transfer worked perfectly. We thought your list of items to take was comprehensive and we were prepared for all the elements that we faced.
Ms Groves, UK
Lake District Short Break – West Lakes
Nether Wasdale to Boot & the small village of Wasdale Head were my favourite.
Mr Kenny, Eire
St Cuthbert’s Way
We truly enjoyed this walk. It was beautiful, very historic and not at all crowded.
Mr Johnson, USA
Dales Way
It was our best holiday ever. We tend to get lost on walks, but waymarking was so good that even we made it without much difficulty! We loved the remoteness of our overnight stops, the landscape, the sheep - everything! Our landlords were almost all exceptionally friendly and helpful and we learnt lots about people and culture and life out there. Brilliant!
Mr Giovannini, Germany
Glyndwyr’s Way
All spectacular but first few days really special.
Mr Rafferty, UK
Pembrokeshire Coastal Path
Entire path was fabulous; walking along cliffs, later on beaches (Nolton Haven, Marloes Sands, Broad Haven to Little Haven via beach), and the B&B hosts were quite friendly.
Ms Bierny, UK

This was a brilliant week which more than lived up to our expectations. There has been some excellent use of lotto money on the route. An undulating route, with fabulous views and historical interest. The B&B's were all good and very welcoming and our luggage "magically" appeared in all of the right places. The pack that was sent included every thing we needed. We certainly intend to do another walk. All of the B&B's gave us a good welcome and really looked after us very well.

We especially marveled at the huge European beeches that were so frequent in the woods on this walk. The Allerton House was a real treat; it was definitely deserving of its 4 star rating. We also found the stay at the Linton Farm unique and fun. The historic abbeys and castles in this region made the walk really interesting.
Mr Johnson, USA

Dr Snape, UK
Cotswold Highlights
We enjoyed all parts of the walk, for different reasons in each case. The Gloucestershire and Monarch Ways were enjoyable because they were less frequented than the Cotswold Way which was quite busy, though not oppressively so. The days with lunchtime inns (especially Blockley and Broadwell) were wonderful, but, somewhat to our surprise we also enjoyed our two picnic days. Each of us had our own favourite village, but Stow-on-the- Wold got high ratings from all, as did the South Hill Farmhouse (which is really a small hotel!).

I LOVED this walk! The guide book was exceptionally accurate - I loved the views over the countryside. The 'Cotswold Way' is brilliantly signposted. I loved having a number of villages en route as it makes the walk more interesting.
Mrs Jellis, UK
Dales Way
The whole route was just spectacular but I did spend a few hours at Bolten Abbey. Burnsall, Kettlewell and Sedbergh are all lovely places to stop. Pretty and picturesque!
Ms Ford, New Zealand

The organisation was perfect! B&B were well prepared for our arrival. Some of the owners are excellent cooks! It was our first experience with this type of "organised" walking and we enjoyed it very much! Thanks for organising our holiday!

Absolutely wonderful holiday. I would definitely book another holiday with you and the people you do business with are clearly proud to be associated with such a good company.
Miss Elliot, UK

Cotswold Highlights
We enjoyed all parts of the walk, for different reasons in each case. The Gloucestershire and Monarch Ways were enjoyable because they were less frequented than the Cotswold Way which was quite busy, though not oppressively so. The days with lunchtime inns (especially Blockley and Broadwell) were wonderful, but, somewhat to our surprise we also enjoyed our two picnic days. Each of us had our own favourite village, but Stow-on-the- Wold got high ratings from all, as did the South Hill Farmhouse (which is really a small hotel!).

The walk was wonderful, helped immensely by the weather which was showery and warm. The views were amazing, the variety of the walk made it interesting and the good signposting meant we never got lost.

Cotswold Special
I LOVED this walk! The guide book was exceptionally accurate - I loved the views over the countryside. The 'Cotswold Way' is brilliantly signposted. I loved having a number of villages en route as it makes the walk more interesting.

Dales Way
The whole route was just spectacular but I did spend a few hours at Bolten Abbey. Burnsall, Kettlewell and Sedbergh are all lovely places to stop. Pretty and picturesque!

Hadrian’s Wall Path
The organisation was perfect! B&B were well prepared for our arrival. Some of the owners are excellent cooks! It was our first experience with this type of "organised" walking and we enjoyed it very much! Thanks for organising our holiday!
